Exeunt Omnes: March the Twenty-Seventh

Well, as it turns out, my computer's camera is not broken, or at least not permanently, but I've gotten so far out of the rhythm of taking the pictures that I'm not going to try to resume. In any case, my facial hair seems to have mostly stopped growing. I don't know why, exactly, but it hasn't been noticeably different for over a week, now. Whatever. I'm still going to finish out the month, but this is my farewell blog post. So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye.

Modus Operandi

It seems that I will have to change my methods if this project is to survive. Evidently Photobooth is completely shot on my laptop–I think the lens might be broken, somehow. If that's the case, I have no idea how it happened, unless the ugly, ugly My First Mustache I've been sporting killed it. It's been a few days since I've done anything with this site, but I'm considering trying to make the switch to my digital camera. No guarantees just yet, though. We'll see what the next few days bring, and then make the final judgment call. So, I suppose that it's possible that this is the penultimate post. Sad, but not really.

Day Fifteen: The Ides

Three things:
1.) I didn't post yesterday or Saturday, due to a combination of business and not feeling like it.
2.) I have been looking forward to this day all month, because it would allow me to use the title, "The Ides." I am very happy about this.
3.) For some reason, the Photobooth application is not working for me currently. That means no photos today, and, should the problem persist, a vastly different method of picture-taking from here on out–presumably, I'll have to use my own camera, which could result in some of those really stupid-looking shots of the photographer in a mirror, camera in hand. I hope to avoid this.

So... that's today: The Ides (I'm having too much fun with this).

Day Twelve: Beard on the Day of My Birth

I'm nineteen today! Hurrah! Beard!:

Day Eleven: March the Eleventh

I realized that, yesterday, I forgot to adjust the sharpness, so the pictures probably didn't look very clear. Well, I fixed it for today. Enjoy the crappiness.

Day Ten: March the Tenth

These are going up late today, due to problems with my internet connection earlier. Also, today I received my first negative comment on my unkempt facial hair. Progress! Anyway, Exhibit A:

Day Nine: March the Ninth

I feel like the rate of growth has slowed down a little bit, but that might be just my imagination. In any case, the beard is not yet proving to be an inconvenience of any kind. Let's hope that continues. Also, I don't think it's gotten long enough to look freakish, despite the very clear patchiness. In any case, the photographic evidence:

Day Eight: March the Eighth

So, today is the first day of week two. I'm kind of in a hurry, so I'm pretty much just gonna leave it at that. Photos:

Day Seven: March the Seventh

Well, I'm now at the end of week one. I've also decided to turn up the sharpness on the photos, which allows you to see a little more clearly. It's been difficult to find a good system of lighting, but editing the sharpness helps cancel out some of the obscuring factor of the bright light.

The last photo here is the neckbeard from the first day. I'm not sure if there's really a noticeable difference between day one and day seven, but maybe there is. Week two begins tomorrow.

Day Six: March the Sixth

Once again, I am not greasy. I shower in the mornings, and I often follow that up with the photos. At this stage, I find the beard a minor annoyance but not significant in most activities. We'll see if that changes (meaning, I wonder if I'll start to itch when I turn my head or otherwise move my neck).

Day Five: March the Fifth

I have two points, and two points only: 1.) I think I'm growing an inverse-Hitler 'stache. I have patches of hair over the corners of my mouth, but very little or nothing actually under my nose. It's gonna be weird when that starts to be immediately visible. 2.) Once again, I am not "greasy." I showered at 8:45 this morning, and the pictures were taken at about 9:00. My hair is watery, not greasy. Anyway, pictures.

Day Four: March the Fourth

Well, yesterday I received a complaint about a lack of text on the last post. Since, apparently, I'm expected to write something everyday, I will say two things today. First (and this is also in response to a criticism), I was not "greasy" in yesterdays photos. I had just gotten out of the shower. My hair was wet. Second, I've noticed that there are several very distinct, unconnected zones to my beard. I have a neckbeard, some growth on the chin, a small amount of mustache, and sideburns, but there is no hair between any of those locations. It's kind of disconcerting to realize that, although both my neck and my chin have hair, there's a barren patch between. Any whoozle, here are the photos:

Day Two: March the Second

Well, we're at day two. I really don't think there's any tangible difference from yesterday's, but here are the photos:

I think that, ultimately, what I'm really hoping to achieve is something along these lines:

Great men, all.

Day One: The Calends of March

Welcome to a month-long project. On my college campus, March is a no-shave month for men. Given that I have just a horrible, patchy monstrosity of a beard, I decided I might as well preserve a photo record of its true awfulness for posterity. I actually haven't shaved for a week already (mostly out of laziness), so what you're seeing is, incredibly, actually already an eight-day beard. In any case, I plan to update daily with a series of four photos: a straight-on shot, right and left profiles, and an under-the-chin shot for the purpose of highlighting the neckbeard. In any case, this is day one: March first.

At this point, I'm pretty comfortable with my beard. The only complaint I have is that it is slightly scratchy when I lower my head and my neck comes into contact with my chest. That, and the fact that I feel slightly greasy and disheveled. I'm thinking about shampooing my jaw. I suspect, however, that as the month progresses, I will grow steadily more horrified by the scraggly rattiness of it all. Oh well. More tomorrow.
